An Interactive Biofeedback Environment for Mental Clarity and Emotional Harmony
Mediums Prosem Untitled utilizes a custom-built biosensor to monitor heart rate (BPM) and blood oxygen levels in real time. This biometric data drives an evolving audiovisual landscape, translating the body’s rhythms into adaptive light and sound patterns through creative coding and biofeedback technology. Informed by research in neuroaesthetics and somatic therapy, MPU gently tunes into the user's present physiological state and uses this data to generate adaptive light and sound compositions, crafted to foster neural decompression, ease depressive stress responses, and support mood stabilization. Binaural beats, synchronized with heart rate patterns, guide the listener into a parasympathetic state, while responsive, flowing visuals ripple across the screen in soothing, nature-inspired palettes. Participants are invited to set an intention before entering the installation, selecting a desired post-session state such as calm, alert, centered, or neutral. The system then evolves in real time to support that goal. Blending the elemental quality of water with digital abstraction, MPU evokes a meditative zone where the self becomes entangled with algorithmic empathy—where code listens, responds, and cares. The piece stands as both a sculptural object and a therapeutic system—a still point in a moving world. By making invisible internal states visible and audible, MPU invites participants into a space of attunement, feedback, and gentle transformation. It is not a diagnostic tool but an aesthetic companion in the pursuit of equilibrium and self-soothing.
